Having established a large number of companies over the years, Marc Sparks says that he is a serial entrepreneur. Living in Dallas, Texas, he now heads Timber Creek Capital, LP where he works as a venture capitalist. The industry he has the most experience in is the telecommunications industry but he has started businesses in several other industries as well.
Marc Sparks says that there are many roads to success. He points out that he was just a C student and doesn’t have a college degree. Unlike what many people think nowadays, he says this hasn’t hindered him at all. In fact, he says that most people can become a successful entrepreneur like himself if they know the way to go about it. They also can’t be fearful of failure because if nothing else you learn something along the way. He wrote a book called, “They Can’t Eat You”, available on Amazon, where he shows readers the lessons he has learned starting and running companies. He outlines business strategies that he has found successful in this book. Learn more: https://classroomvoices.org/marc-sparks-risk-taker-in-and-out-of-business/
Having been at his previous location for more than a decade, Marc Sparks two years ago moved Timber Creek Capital to another location. The reason he did this was that the new location was specifically designed to support collaboration and an ideal space to be a startup incubator. He has now helped a number of entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground. Among these companies are Bluejay Wireless, Haulfox, Everest Rehabilitation Hospitals, LLC, and Splashmedia. His new offices can host three companies at a time through their startup period.
At Timber Creek Capital, Marc Sparks can help entrepreneurs in a variety of ways. The first way is the business knowledge he has accumulated over the years. He can also provide the capital necessary to launch any new business. Beyond that he offers other services such as marketing, graphic art, accounting, business equipment, legal help, support staff, and everything else a company needs to get established.
Beyond starting new companies, Marc Sparks is a philanthropist. He has worked with a variety of nonprofits and has donated money to them as well. One charity that he has supported for years is The Samaritan House which provides a place to stay and resources for those who find themselves homeless. As Marc has said, most people in the United States are really just a couple of paychecks away from poverty.
Another charity Sparks supported was Dogs Matter. This is a place that gives pets a temporary foster care place to stay while their owners recover from alcohol and/or drug addiction. He also supports Mommies In Need which helps women who have a sudden health crisis by providing free child care.
